Since BS 6 phase 2 in effect from April 2023, cars have become dearer due to high R&D and parts cost. However, a common middle class still needs a family car for commuting and that should be within the budget and should be low on pocket in terms of maintenance, Insurance and running cost. The budget within which one can get a decent car is under 6 lakhs. Most of the people who have bigger cars also consider these options as their secondary vehicle for their family as they are reliable as well as easy to maintain.
Here are few cars which are available in less than 6 lakhs of ex-showroom price in India in 2023-
1. Maruti Suzuki Ignis – Sigma (Base Variant 5.84 Lakhs) (ex-showroom)

- Most refined Engine in segment – This is probably the most lucrative reason to bet on this car above all other options within the budget. It has 1.2 Litre VVT engine which is the peppiest petrol engine in the country. Silent to drive, instant torque and rev happy are its major characteristics. It produces the power of 81.80 bhp at 6000 rpm whereas maximum torque output is 113 nm at 4200 rpm. (Must take a test drive to get the idea of what we are suggesting).
